CD Recorder Is a Great Tool for Contemporary Music

By Luke Bruschuk

Private Vocal Instructor whose previously worked on staff at the Willow Creek Arts Center, in Barrington, Illinois

Luke BruschukIn all my years of teaching, I have never found a machine that is so useful for the contemporary/pop vocal style of teaching. Especially when needing to make various vocal tracks for students in which the vocal track cannot be found.

I have used the voice reduction feature (VR) on the PSD 300 to lower and at times drastically decrease the solo voice on a particular song. This enables a teacher to have a vocal track with almost no solo voice and use the vocally-reduced track as a teaching tool in the voice studio. And because the PSD300 has dual CD decks, I am able to burn what I need without an extra external device.

My students have particularly benefited from this process because for many songs in the contemporary, rock, or pop genre there are almost no tracks or lead sheets available that would assist a student in learning the pop style.

In addition to VR, I have been able to raise/lower keys and speed up/slow down songs to be used by my students. This has been of great importance because depending on a students vocal ability, the need for various keys and tempos are needed.

My students have loved the PSD 300 and I would recommend it for any vocal teacher who wants a great tool in teaching the various styles outside of the classical vocal realm.
